BMC was entrusted with the task of enhancing their living space through a hip to gable rear dormer conversion, resulting in a master bedroom, en-suite, and walk-in wardrobe. The loft conversion journey began with meticulous planning by the architect, ensuring every detail was considered. BMC initiated the project by removing the roof and chimney, installing steels, and laying floor joists. Our commitment to transparency led us to welcome the clients to witness the ongoing progress.

However, a challenge emerged as the client expressed concerns about the dormer size, unaware that it stepped back 3-4 feet from the rear of the property. Collaborating with Billy, the clients, and the architect, BMC adjusted calculations to extend the dormer to the rear wall, maintaining structural integrity. Another hurdle arose when the ridge beam had to be shifted 200mm due to the load-bearing wall's off-center position, necessitating additional supports. BMC, dedicated to quality, addressed the issue by reinforcing the flat roof with steel brackets.

Despite challenges, Abby and Matt demonstrated exceptional understanding, valuing the importance of resolving issues properly. This collaborative approach ensured a smooth construction process. Returning to the dormer stage, the extended structure now boasts a stunning en-suite, spacious master bedroom, and a delightful walk-in wardrobe with abundant natural light from VELUX Windows. These windows also illuminate the stairwell, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere on the way to the first floor.
